Links Beat Folders: One Idea Can Live in Many Contexts at Once

Folders are built on a tree structure — each node has exactly one parent. But knowledge is a graph, not a tree. Forcing graph-shaped knowledge into tree-shaped folders means information is either:
- duplicated (copy the note into each folder it belongs to), or
- lost (buried in one folder, invisible from all others).
Links solve this cleanly. The note stays in one place; the connections radiate outward to wherever the idea is relevant.
