Forging an Atomic Note Requires Genuine Focus — It Cannot Be Done Shallowly

An atomic note is not a copy-paste. It is a compression — and compression requires that you actually understand what you are compressing. The moment you try to put an idea in your own words and fail, the failure is informative: it is proof you did not yet understand it.

This is why note-making cannot be done shallowly. A skimming session produces highlights; a thinking session produces atomic notes. Only the latter feeds your slip-box.


The Feynman Test, applied

The Feynman principle states that genuine understanding shows up as the ability to explain something simply to someone else. An atomic note is explaining it to yourself — a private Feynman test run on every idea before it earns a place in the slip-box. Reading.md

  • Atomic notes written this way become the raw material that compounds through links over time.
